Imran Hamdulay is a writer & director based in Cape Town. He is an alumni of the Berlinale Talents programme and his short films have played at numerous festivals around the world where they have won multiple awards.
Imran’s cinematic visuals and experience in narrative drama means he has an instinctual approach to both storytelling and performance. He was the recipient of the 2019 Robert Bosch Stiftung award and the JCC Carthage Pro award for his feature film in development Pieces of Salma. Pieces of Salma will be his debut feature film as a director and is scheduled to shoot end of 2020.
He has had two feature film projects presented at Durban Filmmart and multiple projects funded by the National Film & Video Foundation of South Africa. His most recent feature film The Gift, produced for US director John Gutierrez, is currently in post production and will be released mid 2020.
